Our youth ministry is guided by the conviction that teens need two types of spiritual support from their church. On the one hand, they need friends at the same stage of life who can encourage them in the faith and help them know they are not alone in their beliefs. On the other, as they are growing into adulthood, also they need to be integrated into the life of the church community and deepen relationships with adult believers who can provide them an example of mature, godly adulthood.
Throughout the year, our youth meet together in discipleship groups for times of relationship building, studying the Bible and prayer. These groups are led by student leaders who are themselves in a mentoring relationship with one of the pastors. We also have regular youth fellowship activities, meant to deepen relationship with peers and help welcome those who are new to the group.
During the school year, our youth also join with the adults during our Sunday school hour to consider together with them how to connect the truths of the Bible with the complicated issues we are facing in the moment.
